Tied with San Francisco, but considerably more affordable, Portland registered an Overall Office Vacancy Rate of 11.2%, the lowest level since the peak of activity in 2008.

It was a fairly strong finish to the year in commercial real estate transactions in Portland/Vancouver. While the markets are no where near the peak of 2007, they are definitely in recovery mode with downtown Portland and Columbia Tech Center in Vancouver both shining spots. Technology, healthcare, sustainable and creative firms have led the way with some notable expansions including PeaceHealth, HP, Lionbridge, OCHIN, Inside Trax, Springbrook Software, Dachis Group, Ebay, SoloPower and EnergyTrust signing big leases in 2011. 2012 should build on this strong momentum through the first half of the year!
